One of one. A diamond frame drawn in the thinnest line of gold, its outer corners tapered to a point, so light that the lenses seem to float. Purple-grey lenses deepen to violet smoke at the top and clear to a pale lilac haze below. Where temples would be, a gold chain runs down to two raw green quartz stones, each hand-set in a gold-dipped cap.

The Frame

Gold-tone metal diamond with a fine, thin rim and a slim straight bridge. Temple-less: the chain is the temple.

The Lens

Purple-grey gradient polycarbonate lenses: lightweight, shatterproof, UV400. Shaded where the sun is, open where your eyes are.

The Chain

18K gold-plated box chain, cut long enough to rest low on the collarbone and to swing back without a sound when you take the glasses off.

The Stone

Two natural green quartz stones, left raw and hand-set in 18K gold-plated caps. One sits a touch longer than the other, as stones pulled from the same rough tend to do. This is the only Sorrento.

Designed in Egypt.

Most glasses are held by two arms. These are held by a chain — and every other decision followed from that one.

THE FRAME

There are no arms.

The chain clips into a small gold loop at each corner, passes the ear, and falls. Behind that loop there is nothing at all.

Polycarbonate. It absorbs impact instead of breaking, and the UV400 filter is part of the material itself — no coating on top to scratch away or fade.

Weight, settled before assembly. The chain is weighed against the frame and against the stone, so the piece balances itself and sits where you set it.
