One of one. A rimless square frame that is almost all lens: two broad panes held by a slim gold bridge and a pair of small gold end pieces at the corners, nothing else. The lenses run from deep violet at the top to a pale lilac at the bottom. In place of temples, a gold chain falls to two raw quartz stones, one pink and one blue, each hand-set in a gold-dipped cap.

The Frame

Gold-tone metal rimless square with a fine bridge and corner mounts, so the colour of the lens does the talking. Temple-less: the chain is the temple.

The Lens

Purple gradient polycarbonate lenses: lightweight, shatterproof, UV400. Violet where the sun is strongest, lilac where your eyes are, a wash of colour rather than a wall.

The Chain

18K gold-plated box chain, fine enough to disappear into a collar and steady enough to hold the glasses when they rest on your chest.

The Stone

Two natural quartz stones, one pink and one blue, left raw and hand-set in 18K gold-plated caps. The pair was chosen to differ, and no other stone will match either. This is the only Mykonos.

THE OBJECT

A pair held by a chain.

Most glasses are held by two arms. These are held by a chain — and every other decision followed from that one.

THE FRAME

There are no arms.

The chain clips into a small gold loop at each corner, passes the ear, and falls. Behind that loop there is nothing at all.

Polycarbonate. It absorbs impact instead of breaking, and the UV400 filter is part of the material itself — no coating on top to scratch away or fade.

Square links keep their line instead of twisting into a rope, so the chain lies flat and stays put. The 18K plating covers every link, not just the faces you see.

THE BALANCE

So what actually keeps it on?

Weight, settled before assembly. The chain is weighed against the frame and against the stone, so the piece balances itself and sits where you set it.
