One of one. A hexagon frame drawn in the thinnest gold wire, so the six-sided lens does the talking. The lenses are a warm tobacco brown, even from edge to edge, the colour of tea held up to a window. In place of temples, a gold chain runs from each corner to a pale blue quartz point, hand-set in a gold-dipped cap.

The Frame

Gold-tone metal hexagon with a slim rim and a fine bridge. Temple-less: the chain is the temple.

The Lens

Solid brown polycarbonate lenses: lightweight, shatterproof, UV400. Warm on the eyes, warm on the face, and quiet enough for every hour of daylight.

The Chain

18K gold-plated box chain, fine at the frame and easy at the neck, so the glasses hang exactly where you leave them.

The Stone

Two natural blue quartz stones, left raw and hand-set in 18K gold-plated caps. One runs a shade paler than the other, as stones pulled from the same seam tend to do. This is the only Cassis.

Most glasses are held by two arms. These are held by a chain — and every other decision followed from that one.

THE FRAME

There are no arms.

The chain clips into a small gold loop at each corner, passes the ear, and falls. Behind that loop there is nothing at all.

Polycarbonate. It absorbs impact instead of breaking, and the UV400 filter is part of the material itself — no coating on top to scratch away or fade.

Square links keep their line instead of twisting into a rope, so the chain lies flat and stays put. The 18K plating covers every link, not just the faces you see.

Every stone is natural — chosen, not made. No two come out of the ground alike, so no two pairs leave here alike.

THE BALANCE

So what actually keeps it on?

Weight, settled before assembly. The chain is weighed against the frame and against the stone, so the piece balances itself and sits where you set it.
